One effective way to learn for recall and memorise, is to use analogies and graphic images. Say you want to learn a mathematical formula, write down the formula on one side of a flash card and on the other you draw and an image that represents it. Now study the flashcards by looking at the images first and then trying to recall the formula on the other side.
